Is moon-doll.com legit or a scam?

Moon-doll.com is a Chinese website that seems to operate like any other drop shipper. I use the word ‘seems’ because this website is a little difficult to assess.

I will explain below what I mean and why I think it’s hard to evaluate.

The first time I heard about them was when a potential customer asked about their “deep throat” oral sex head offering. I knew this option was physically impossible to offer, so I immediately thought, ‘Oh no, not another one of these Chinese scammers! How many people will get caught this time?’

There have been many inquiries about it, and I refrained from publicly stating what I was thinking. Since Moon-doll.com was a new website, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

It turned out to be a total lie. Moon-doll.com, after making a big fuss around their offering, has now removed that section entirely from their website.

How many people got caught? I don’t know, but I’ve seen this happen far too often with this type of site, a 100% virtual business where the operator has no clue about the products they’re selling.

Now, when ordering from a Chinese-operated website, I’ve found that the customer service is almost always lacking. I have been critized a lot for saying that but I beleive it to be a fact. I believe this is due to two main factors:

1. The cultural difference in business practices.
2. The language barrier, as you’ll see in the screenshot below.
   

Would this have been avoided if the language were the same? It’s debatable. However, based on my experience with numerous language and customer service issues with Chinese businesses, I believe it’s worth mentioning.

As I’ve mentioned in many of my reviews, they don’t have any inventory of their own.

As I explained in my blog, they’re just using warehouses rented by Chinese manufacturers in different parts of the world to stock their dolls.

They place a lot of emphasis on the robot function they offer. In my experience, and based on what I’ve read on forums, these electronic options rarely work well and tend to break quickly.

You end up spending a lot of money on these functions, and the doll becomes much heavier due to the added weight of the robot components. Additionally, none of the videos they show are theirs, they all come from the factories. If they’re producing their own dolls, as they want us to believe, why aren’t they showcasing their own content?

What puzzles me most is their ‘About Us‘ page. They clearly want to make us believe they produce their own dolls by showing a video of an office with their logo (which could be staged) and some footage from a factory, implying they own the factory.

Two things stand out:
If they have a factory, what is their brand? They don’t claim to have a brand.
If there’s no brand, then they’re likely one of the many counterfeiters.

No matter how you look at it, it doesn’t seem trustworthy.

On the other hand, their third party reviews are quite good and don’t appear to be filtered.

So, I’m conflicted. This is exactly the type of seller I usually dislike: a fully virtual shop with no address or phone number, seemingly lying about having a factory, selling unreliable robot functions, and having been caught offering a non-existent option.

Yet, their reviews are good and seem genuine.

So, there you go, it’s up to you to decide.

EDIT Dec 2024: I may have discovered why their moon-dolls’s reviews are positive despite their questionable business practices: the reviews may not be genuine.

Let’s compare the reviews from 2 different vendors using the exact same third party sofware review. sexdoll-shop.com and moon-doll.com

Both vendors use the same third-party review software which is called Judge.me. This means that neither sexdolls-shop or moon-doll.com have built these pages, even if they are diplayed on their respective websites. It is actually the judge.me software that builds and display them. Don’t ask how, that is technical stuff.

However, sexdolls-shop has special badges displayed by judge.me, and all of their reviews are marked as VERIFIED, which is not the case with moon-dolls.

These are not verified. I was scratching my head as to how a Chinese business with such bad practices could have such good reviews. This could be the answer.

It’s very possible that they have written their own reviews. Review software often includes the option to add reviews manually, but third party review platforms typically indicate which reviews are from verified buyers and which are not.
