Is thesilverdoll.com legit or a scam?

TheSilverDoll is a Chinese vendor that has been operating since 2016. Interestingly, they claim to offer customer service with “American standards,” which, in a way, acknowledges my ongoing point of Chinese customer service often falling short due to cultural differences.

Their claim of being established in 2016 is backed by domain records, unlike most other Chinese vendors I’ve reviewed so far.

The website has a unique, enjoyable design that makes browsing a good experience.

Their reviews, however, are intriguing. Despite being around for so long, they have only about 296 reviews as of October 26, 2024. They use Yotpo for third-party reviews, which isn’t my favorite because it doesn’t allow for an immediate view of overall ratings and tends to offer too much filtering.

They also have a Trustpilot page with only five reviews and a general rating of 4 stars, but only two reviews are visible on the page, which is odd.

Another noteworthy point is that they’re one of the first Chinese vendors I’ve seen who openly admit that their “in-stock” dolls actually belong to Chinese manufacturers with rented warehouses in the U.S.

This is a refreshing change from the usual small vendors who misleadingly claim to have their own stock on hand.

The filter function on their website is a useful tool for narrowing down options, and although they’re a dropshipping business, they avoid making false promises about faster shipping or unique advantages.

Their video section includes standard factory videos, and their options section is well-organized, providing all available information.

However, as a dropshipper, they lack firsthand experience with their products, which can lead to some knowledge gaps.

For instance, they don’t mention that implanted hair on a TPE doll falls out quickly, leaving the doll effectively bald and with a head that lacks oral capability due to the stiffer skin needed for hair implantation.

Another example is their reference to a factory video claiming that S-TPE skin offers the same realistic quality as silicone, which is misleading. S-TPE is indeed softer and more durable than standard TPE but isn’t comparable to silicone in terms of realism.

They offer a wide selection of dolls, which is both a benefit and a limitation. As a dropshipper, the more products they offer, the harder it is to be well-informed about each one.

Although I’m not usually a fan of dropshipping business models, I have to say they did a good job here. Their website is well-structured and informative within the constraints of dropshipping. Most importantly, they avoid the common false claims that small Chinese vendors often make to appear as the largest doll vendor in the world. I was pleasantly surprised, good job guys!

Customers Feedback

We do not hear much about this vendor online.

For this reason, I’ll give them the default average rating of 8 out of 10 for their online reputation.

As for their customer service, I have no way to verify if it is good or not, so I’ll give them an average rating of 8 out of 10 as well.

Final Rating

I honestly can’t say for sure if they truly provide an “American standard” customer service, and their reviews are a bit unusual.

However, they’ve put significant effort into their website, providing accurate information—a refreshing change from other sites with a similar dropshipping model.

If you find your doll here, give it a shot and let me know how the experience goes.
